Diriomo is a linguistic expression of Chorotega origin and means "Valley of dirianes", its name is due to the fact that the dirianes settled in this territory, which was an ethnic group belonging to the Chorotegas, an immigrant people from Mexico who arrived in Nicaragua in the XNUMXth century AD, giving rise to several groups with different names .
The municipality of Diriomo is located 48 kilometers from the city of Managua. It borders Diriá to the north, Nandaime to the south, Granada to the east and La Paz to the west.
The main economic activity of the municipality is agricultural production. Thanks to its fertile soil, beans, corn and other non-traditional crops such as: pineapple, pitahaya, passion fruit and chayotes are grown.

You can get to Diriomo by taking a bus that travels direct from the Roberto Huembes Market terminal or at the terminal in front of the Casimiro Sotelo Montenegro National University. Within the town you can transport yourself by motorcycle taxi to your preferred place.
Traveling by private vehicle you take the road to Masaya until you reach Catarina, go straight after the Catarina roundabout and travel approximately five kilometers.
