The town of Esquipulas was established in the 18th century with a hermitage, the town hall and eight private houses. In the musical field, the “Grupo Los Amigos” stands out, founded by the composer and interpreter, Silvestre Velásquez. Sites of historical and cultural interest
The petroglyphs of the farm La Esperanza, the natives left traces of their presence. There are several rocks etched in an area of half a block of land. One of the motifs is an anthropomorphic open arms design. In this place you can also see a stone with a hole, possibly a dome to deposit or incinerate offerings.
It is located in the La Pita community, 10 kilometers from the urban sector of the municipality. For your visit it is recommended to coordinate with the Mayor's Office and the owner of the farm.
Museum of the German Ramón Hernández Jarquín Revolution: Built in 2022, it is located in the Mario Alfonso neighborhood, its name in honor of the first young man who raised the red and black flag in the municipality of Esquipulas before the triumph of the revolution, placing it high on a tree in a school where the José la Cruz Mena School is built today. In this space you can find photographs of national and municipal heroes, as well as old elements that were used at the time of the revolution defending peace in Nicaragua.
