Christ of Esquipulas
The Esquipulas patron saint festivities begin on December 25, with the activity called "The decree of the party ", in which the festive program is disclosed.
The Parish of Nuestro Señor de Esquipulas is the center of the festivities, dedicated to the saint of the same name that is celebrated on January 14. That day, in the square near the temple, a massive Eucharist is held, since the miraculous image of the Black Christ attracts thousands of Catholic faithful from different parishes throughout the country.
The second patronal feast
Our Lady of Perpetual Help
The patron saint is Our Lady of Perpetual Help, which is celebrated on June 27 with a novena in the church. The religious services during the novena are organized by different families. In their respective shifts they are in charge of preparing their houses to receive the Virgin, where they give a sweet girl to the faithful attendees.
On the last day, a solemn mass is celebrated. The brotherhood is in charge of paying the chicheros, killing the pig to distribute nacatamales and preparing food for the bishop.
During the patron saint festivities different very traditional activities of the area are carried out such as: riding bulls and horse riding.
