Lord of the Miracles of Esquipulas
The culture and religiosity of the Sauceños is summarized in this space, visit the Señor de los Milagros de Esquipulas National Sanctuary, to learn about local history, visit the old railway station and do not hesitate to visit the monument in honor of Arlen Siu in the Buena Vista community.
Every January in honor of the Lord of Esquipulas there are activities such as pilgrim carts that go from Cinco Pinos and Villanueva, a november mass, dawn and procession. Approximately 20,000 people are mobilized for their development.
How to reach?
To get to El Sauce from Managua take the transport either in the Israel Lewites market or in front of the UCA, in the university city you board a bus or interlocal with the direction of this municipality.

National Shrine Lord of Miracles of Esquipulas
It is very elegant and it is the third temple in which the miraculous image of the Lord of Esquipulas has been worshiped. This sanctuary bears a striking resemblance to Guatemala's own cathedral. On June 16, 1984, the Episcopal Conference declared it a National Sanctuary and on June 01, 1999, Cultural Heritage of the Nation.

Old railway station and in Rio Grande
The buildings of the stations that existed in El Sauce still remain. The one in Río Grande is a taquezal house, without doors because they were looted; and El Sauce, a colonial-style house with a tile roof and taquezal walls.
Monument in honor of Arlen Siu
Arlen siú
The Jinotepina guerrilla Arlen Siu fell fighting against the National Guard in August 1975, in the El Guayabo sector, Ocotal region, of the El Sauce municipality. In this site today there is a monument where year after year the settlers commemorate their fall.
