Bluefields, one of the largest municipalities in the country, made up of flat and low lands, located in hydrographic basins of great natural wealth.
Its municipal seat is also the capital of the Autonomous Region of the South Caribbean Coast, the most important urban center in the Nicaraguan Caribbean and perhaps the one with the greatest cultural diversity due to the presence of indigenous peoples and Afro-descendant communities in its territory.
The municipality is located 383 kilometers from Managua, capital of Nicaragua. It limits to the north with Kukra Hill, to the south with San Juan de Nicaragua and El Castillo, to the east with the Caribbean Sea and to the west with the municipalities of Nueva Guinea and El Rama.
Productive activities revolve around fishing and wood, including industrial and artisanal activities. Commerce is an important source of jobs and income, concentrated in the urban area of the municipality.

By air, La Costeña offers flights to Bluefields from the Augusto C. Sandino International Airport, in Managua. You must reserve and purchase tickets in advance, as they are in high demand.
By land, from Managua, you must go to the Mercado El Mayoreo terminal and board a bus to Bluefields, which has a cost of C$320.00
If you travel by private vehicle from Managua You will take the North Pan-American Highway through Juigalpa following the route to your destination with a duration of 7 hours.
