It is located in the central region between the municipalities of Camoapa and Boaco in the department of Boaco. It has an area of 940 hectares. It was declared through decree 42-91 published in the official newspaper La Gaceta No. 207 on November 4, 1991.
It protects extensions of humid pre-montane forests in good condition and important for the conservation of the flora and fauna it houses. It is an area with exuberant scenic beauty, where you can also learn about organic coffee crops. This Reserve contains the main water supply for the department of Boaco.
To visit it, you can go to Finca Holanda, which is located at the entrance of the Reserve, where they provide guides for visitors and tourists.
