Visit this town full of tradition and religiosity, the fervor and love for the mother of God is the reason why hundreds of people from Granada are mobilized on January 29 on a pilgrimage to the Diocesan Mariano Sanctuary of Our Mother and Lady of Candelaria in the municipality from Diriomo, where the parishioners walk more than 15 kilometers.

It is a jewel sanctuary of religious architecture in Nicaragua for its majesty, height, interior and exterior decorations, as well as for its imposing and beautiful front topped with a pair of lofty towers.

Diriomo is located 48 kilometers from Managua. To get to the municipality you must take a bus to Rivas, which frequently departs from the Roberto Huembes market terminal.

Mariano Diocesan Sanctuary of Our Mother and Lady of Candelaria

It is the only stone made in all of Nicaragua, thanks to a white quarry stone mine located three kilometers from the town, from where it was brought on foot and carved by hand by artisans. It is one of the most beautiful architectural monuments in the country. On February 02, 2016, the Diocesan Mariano Sanctuary was erected.
