The art of making "oven stuff" is a tradition that is passed down from generation to generation. Doña Blanca Torres, with her magical hands, has kept this tradition alive in Quezalguaque. The smell of the traditional baked goods spreads through the streets of the municipality and people run after the delicious aroma to be the first to buy them, fresh from the oven.
In addition to the baked goods, the ayaco, dried fish rice, pacos and the bean soup with salted meat stand out in the local gastronomy.
Simple and sweet breads also stand out: pipes, picos, quesadillas, puff pastry and rice cake.
The sweets that are most in demand are milk caramels, bienmesabe, zapoyol caramel, crunchy sesame seeds and peanuts, caramelized peanut candy; and among the drinks, the chicha de cojombro and the morroco stand out.
