The municipality of Jalapa is located in the extreme north of the department of Nueva Segovia and borders with Honduras. The relief in the Jalapa valley varies from flat to slightly undulating.

In this reserve there are emblematic species such as the quetzal that lives in the mountains obscured by the oak oaks. It has multiple viewpoints from where you can see impressive landscapes of the mountains and valleys.
