In 1856, the first families settled on land in Dolores, the Parrales Rojas family, and in 1858 the first population census was carried out, resulting in 58 families who called it Valle de los Dolores, since the lands belonged to Doña Dolores Parrales, who I donate a large part of the land to the poorest residents, including the donation of the land where the chapel of Dolores would be built, the current Parroquia Nuestra Señora de los Dolores, leaving it the name in 1915 of the municipality of Dolores with the apparition of the virgin Nuestra Señora de los Dolores. Dolores is located 44 kilometers from the City of Managua. It limits to the north, south and east with Jinotepe and to the west with Diriamba.
The fundamental economic activity of the municipality is agricultural, characterized by the variety of basic grains such as rice, beans, vegetables and the cultivation of coffee under shade.

How to reach?
To get to the municipality of Dolores, you must take an interlocal bus at the bus terminal in front of the Casimiro Sotelo Montenegro National University in Managua, bound for Jinotepe, and tell the driver or assistant to get off at Dolores.
It is located just three kilometers from the municipality of Diriamba. This route takes about an hour if you travel by collective bus. Buses leave Managua bound for Jinotepe every 10 minutes.
In a private vehicle, the duration of the journey is approximately 50 minutes, traveling along the South Pan-American Highway, passing through El Crucero and Diriamba, you must continue towards the municipality of Dolores.
