The municipality of Cárdenas is located 162 kilometers from the city of Managua.
It limits to the north with Lake Cocibolca, to the south with Costa Rica, to the east with San Carlos and to the west with the municipalities of Rivas and San Juan del Sur.
The fundamental economic activity of the municipality is agriculture, most of it is dedicated to the cultivation of rice, corn, beans, musaceae and non-traditional crops such as palm hearts.

How to reach?
To get to Cárdenas you must take a bus at the Roberto Huembes Market bus terminal, located in Managua, heading to the city of Rivas or Peñas Blancas. Later, board a collective transport unit bound for the municipality of Cárdenas.
If you travel by private vehicle, you must follow the Panamericana Sur highway towards the municipality of Rivas, continue along the stretch of road towards the border with Costa Rica and a few kilometers before the border you will find a paved road towards the municipality of Cárdenas.
