The origin of the word Condega comes from the Nahuatl dialect: comitl = clay container; tecatl = inhabitant, which translates as "land of potters".

The municipality of Condega is located 185 kilometers from the city of Managua. It limits to the north with the municipalities of Palacagüina and Telpaneca, to the south with Estelí, to the east with San Sebastián de Yalí and to the west with San Juan de Limay and Pueblo Nuevo.
The fundamental economic activity of the municipality is agricultural production with crops of tobacco, corn, grapes, beans and coffee, as well as vegetables and livestock.

To get to the municipality of Condega, from Managua, take an express - at the bus terminal in Mercado El Mayoreo - that covers the Managua - Somoto and / or Ooctal - Jalapa route and you get off at kilometer 185.
You can also board a transport unit heading to Estelí, at the Estelí terminal you board another unit that takes you directly to Condega. If you go by private vehicle, follow the North Pan-American Highway.
