Nandasmo, means in the Chorotega language "Next to the streams", and in Nahuatl "Sandy place", it is an artisan and creative town, of great natural beauty. It preserves a great pre-Hispanic historical legacy in a culture that has been built over time.

Nandasmo is located 58 kilometers from the city of Managua. It limits to the north with the Laguna de Masaya, to the south with Masatepe and Niquinohomo, to the east with Masaya and Niquinohomo and to the west with Masatepe.
The economic activity of the municipality is fundamentally agricultural and artisanal. Among the predominant crops are coffee, citrus fruits, beans and corn. The most commercialized handicrafts are wood, leather, bakery, pottery and tin, highlighting utilitarian handicrafts, vegetable fiber and jícara. They also work bamboo giving it different uses.

To visit Nandasmo from Managua, at the Roberto Huembes Market terminal you must take a bus that goes to this municipality or to Masaya. You get off at the main entrance of the municipality where you can take a motorcycle taxi to take you to the city center.
From Masaya to Nandasmo there is direct transport, and in the town the motorcycle taxis take you to any of its regions.
You can also travel in your own vehicle heading along the Masaya road to Catarina. At the Catarina roundabout you turn right, taking the road that takes you to Masatepe. Travel five kilometers and you will see the entrance to Nandasmo, you will turn right to enter the city center.
