The municipality of Santa Lucía is located 92 kilometers from Managua and 11 from Boaco, the departmental capital. It limits to the north with San José de los Remates, to the south and west with Teustepe and to the east with Boaco.

The economic activity is agriculture, highlighting the cultivation of beans, soybeans, corn, sorghum, coffee, musaceae, citrus fruits and vegetables.

The origin of the current name of Santa Lucia is in honor of the "Virgen de Santa Lucia", given by the population and by the Hispanic tradition of the time of naming native populations after Catholic saints, as a symbol of sovereignty and religious blessing. at once.

By law of August 16, 1904 issued by the National Assembly, sanctioned by the President of the Republic José Santos Zelaya, the Santa Lucia valley became the head of the municipality of the same name and jurisdiction of the department of Boaco.

To get to this municipality you must take a bus at the terminal of Mercado El Mayoreo, in Managua, bound for Santa Lucía. You can also go from Managua to Boaco, here you get off at the Fire Department and go to the Boaco Market terminal where you will board a bus that goes to Santa Lucía.

If you travel by private vehicle, take the Managua-El Rama highway, at the San Benito junction you will turn right and continue until you reach the Boaco junction, you will turn left and a few minutes north you will find a road that goes to the municipality of St. Lucia.
