San Juan De Río Coco

San Juan de Río CocoDedicated to the production and marketing of coffee, with many natural water sources and lush vegetation, it is located in the northern part of the country, in the department of Madriz, 243 kilometers from the capital Managua, and 65 kilometers from the departmental capital Somoto. It was established as a municipality on October 1, 1964. Its climate is tropical and humid, with average temperatures ranging between 22° and 24° Celsius. The predominant activity of the municipality is agriculture; it has optimal conditions for coffee production, occupying approximately 37% of the municipal territory for permanent coffee plantations, combined with planting of citrus fruits, musaceae and forested areas.

The title of "Municipality", which is derived from the territory of Telpaneca, was conferred, in the first instance, to the urban settlement of San Juan del Río Coco, specifically, by the Law of October 1, 1964, during the administration of former President René Schick (Creating Law No. 981).
