The municipality of San Juan del Sur is located 140 kilometers from the city of Managua. It limits to the north with Rivas, to the south with the Pacific Ocean, to the east with the municipalities of Rivas, Cárdenas and the neighboring country of Costa Rica and to the west with the Pacific Ocean.

The economic activities of the municipality are agriculture, livestock, fishing, shellfish extraction and tourism.

How to reach?

Entrance to San Juan del Sur

To get to San Juan del Sur you must board a transport unit at the Roberto Huembes Market bus terminal in the direction of this municipality, it takes you directly.

You can also travel by private vehicle, from the city of Managua, following the highway to Masaya, Granada and Rivas; passing the city of Rivas you must continue to the junction of La Virgen highway towards the border with Costa Rica. From there, you will turn right and continue 18 kilometers more on the road that go towards the Puerto de San Juan del Sur. The roads are duly signposted.
