Santa Teresa is a municipality characterized by its agricultural practices and is recognized for its delicious marshmallows, donuts and rapadura candy.
It is a quiet place surrounded by nature, inside it shelters one of the most important sites in the country for its biological wealth, the Río Escalantte - Chacocente Wildlife Refuge, one of the few beaches where you can see the arrival of turtles.
The municipality of Santa Teresa is located 53 kilometers from the city of Managua. It limits to the north with La Paz and El Rosario, to the south with the Pacific Ocean, to the east with Nandaime, Belén and Tola and to the west with La Conquista and Jinotepe.
The fundamental economic activity of the municipality is livestock and the cultivation of corn, beans, sorghum and, in small percentages, vegetables and tubers. In addition to sugar cane from which the panela sweet known nationally as sweet of rapadura is derived from it, the delicious alfeñiques are derived.

How to reach?
To go to this municipality you can board a minibus at the bus terminal in front of the Casimiro Sotelo Montenegro National University, bound for Jinotepe where upon arrival at the terminal you will take a taxi or interlocal that will take you to Santa Teresa.
If you travel by private vehicle, take the South Pan-American Highway passing through El Crucero, Diriamba and Dolores until you reach Jinotepe at kilometer 51.5, taking into account the signs, follow the road to the right.
