Its founding date dates from 1892, by the huleros (rubber seekers) and raicilleros who settled with their families in the place; Among them: Nery López, Perfecto Romero, Francisco González and other merchants who came to the place in search of rubber and raicilla, staying permanently in the area.

Streets of the municipality

El Almendro is a quiet and hospitable town dedicated to productive work. The main economic activity of the municipality is livestock and agriculture. It is called “The white water pool”, due to the abundant milk that is produced here.

The municipality of El Almendro is located 250 kilometers from the city of Managua. It limits to the north with Acoyapa, Villa Sandino and El Coral, to the south with San Miguelito and Nueva Guinea, to the east with Nueva Guinea and to the west with Morrito.

You have to board an express bus at the terminal of Mercado El Mayoreo, in Managua, which leaves at 9:15 am or else board a bus heading to San Carlos or Nueva Guinea and then change buses to El Almendro.

By private transport from Managua you must take the North Pan-American Highway, when you reach the San Benito junction, turn right and continue straight until you reach the Pájaro Negro junction, turn left until you reach the municipality.
