Muy Muy was officially elevated to the category of municipality on September 23, 2009.

The municipality is located 140 kilometers from the city of Managua. It limits to the north with San Ramón and Matiguás, to the south with Boaco, to the east with Matiguás and to the west with the municipality of Esquipulas.

The fundamental economic activity of the municipality is livestock and agriculture, mainly, with the sowing of basic grains such as: rice, beans and musaceae.

To get to Muy Muy, you have to go to the bus terminal of the Mayoreo market, here you must take a collective transport unit bound for Río Blanco, the travel time is approximately four hours, you ask the driver to get you off at the stop of the municipality, is before arriving at Río Blanco. The departure time from Managua to Río Blanco is at 05:00 and 06:00 in the morning, and at 05:00 in the afternoon.

You can also travel by private vehicle taking the road towards Río Blanco, passing through Boaco until you reach Muy Muy.
