San José de los Remates is one of the youngest municipalities in the department of Boaco, characterized by its two different climatic zones, during the trip to the municipality, first you pass through the entire dry zone and as you go up and up its hills you feel the air cool.

At the beginning you will see the impressive green wall that provides the background of the Cerro Alegre-Cumaica Natural Reserve.

It is located 97 kilometers from Managua; It limits to the north with Esquipulas and Terrabona, to the south with Santa Lucía and Teustepe, to the east with the municipality of Boaco and to the west with Teustepe and Ciudad Darío.

Livestock, agriculture and coffee cultivation are the main economic activities in this area.

How to reach?

You must board the buses at the terminal of Mercado El Mayoreo in Managua, which go to San José de los Remates or Teustepe.

If you prefer to travel by private vehicle, take the North Pan-American Highway, you will pass through Tipitapa and at the San Benito junction turn right, follow the road and enter through Teustepe, after 26 kilometers you will reach the municipality.
