Nandasmo is a privileged city, thanks to its location it has panoramic views of the Masaya Lagoon and the Masaya Volcano.

From the Tourist Viewpoint of Nandasmo you can see the Mombacho Volcano (located in the department of Granada), the city of Masaya and Nindirí, the El Coyotepe Fortress and Lake Xolotlán.

Nandasmo is crossed by two streams that run in the rainy season and flow into the Masaya Lagoon, located to the north of the municipality is an important hydrographic resource, likewise the aquifer number 10 that is on the Plateau de los Pueblos.

The municipality has a dry forest and an aquatic ecosystem. Although the original forest has been modified, it still maintains certain natural features that provide a pleasant and fresh environment. The natural vegetation alternates with fruit trees, ornamentals, musaceae, coffee crops and basic grains, giving a well diversified environment.

A large part of its population are artisans, who survive from the rational use of timber and floral species; transforming them into furniture, fruit-shaped crafts, engraved gourds and others that are part of the livelihood of families. Many ornamental and medicinal species are cultivated to be offered on the roadsides and neighboring municipalities.

The proximity to the Masaya National Park makes the surrounding municipalities of great value for biodiversity, here you can find mammals such as squirrels, armadillos, deer, howler monkeys and opossums.

Among the most representative birds are the magpies, jumps piñuelas and beach chickens; tilapia, guapote and several species of mojarras can be found in the lagoon.

It is common to find reptiles such as the iguana and the garrobo in the highest areas of lava rocks, which pose in the sun to regulate their body temperature.

On the walls of the El Ojoche ravine, a series of petroglyphs are carved, which have tourist and historical value.
