Stone house La Danta Esquipulas
The greatest natural attraction of the municipality is the Cerro Cumaica Nature Reserve - Cerro Alegre, Protected Area decreed in 1991. It has an area of 9.000 hectares and is shared by the municipalities of Boaco, Santa Lucia and San José de Los Remates, from the department of Boaco, also with Muy Muy and Esquipulas, from Matagalpa.
At the summits of the reserve there is a cloud forest of great importance for the capture and filtration of water. There are trails where you can access many viewpoints and contemplate the impressive landscape of the surrounding mountains and the epiphytic vegetation of the leafy trees.
Stone house: Located in the La Danta community, 2 km south east of the hacienda house, in this place there is a huge stone in the shape of a shell that gives rise to a covered space like a cave that people call a stone house, where there is a cool climate. , a beautiful view of the valley of the La Danta de Cumaica community and also allows you to visualize the impressive moon stone.
Hill Cumaica
El Jícaro Canyon: It is a natural resource, its waters are part of the Rio Grande de Matagalpa and its unique structure forms a canyon made of rocks. Lizards live in its waters and in its environment you can see birds such as barrancos, woodpeckers, magpies and some tinajas and raccoons.
On the site there is a suspension bridge where you can appreciate a beautiful view of the entire canyon and the surrounding vegetation, take a good picture and breathe fresh air. It is located in the El Jícaro community, 19 kilometers from the municipality, arriving at the San Rafael farm you have to walk one kilometer. It is recommended to coordinate with the Mayor's Office for your visit.
El El Limón jump, With more than 60 meters of height, it has a pleasant climate that in its highest part reaches 15 degrees Celsius. The immediate forest makes the place a real attraction where you can go hiking, bird watching, amphibians, insects and enjoy the breeze that splashes your face while watching the beautiful waterfall.
El Jícaro Canyon
It is located in the rural area 30 kilometers from the municipality, first you must reach the Finca La Esperanza (25 kilometers) and then on the left walk five kilometers until you climb the waterfall. To visit it, coordinate with a local guide who can be found at the Mayor's Office.
Cerro El Gorrion: It is a natural formation of pointed rocks that give it a unique and striking shape, from its top you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view and a pleasant climate, while you go up you get to know about the flora, fauna and ways of life of the surrounding population.
It is located in the El Gorrión community, approximately 30 kilometers from the town, the El Gorrión ranch (25 kilometers) is reached by preferably 4 × 4 vehicle, then five kilometers are traveled up the hill on foot or on horseback.
