The municipality of La Concepción is part of the route of the volcanoes, it is an area with a warm climate. It presents various reliefs, gives rise to rural community tourism.
The forest is often combined with the cultivation of coffee and citrus, creating a diverse environment with lush vegetation, conducive to adventure hiking, horseback riding, rappelling, and camping, among others.
Gases from the Santiago crater (Masaya Volcano) affect the highest parts of the municipality, creating open areas of grasslands that are combined with pitahaya, pineapple and vegetable crops, conducive to agrotourism and landscape contemplation.
Some important sites where you can see a lot of nature or have valuable information for environmental education are the Palo Solo Tourist Corridor, Temuá y Cruise y Stacks of Sapasmapa.
Palo Solo Community
In the heart of La Concepción, entering through the checkpoint until you reach approximately one kilometer, you will find to the east a panoramic view that offers you the Lakes and Volcanoes Viewpoint.
Another option is the El Ventarrón viewpoint, located at kilometer 26 highway to Ticuantepe - La Concepción.
Six types of ecosystems are located in La Concepción. The Llanos de Pacaya located in the highest parts with herbaceous species; the submontane forest, located in the upper and middle parts with evergreen vegetation; the coffee plantation with natural shade that alternates tall trees and fruit trees; the tropical dry forest; the bush or grassland areas and agricultural systems that include the cultivation of citrus fruits, pitahaya, pineapple, vegetables, livestock, among others.
The variety of ecosystems allows to create a rural, preserved, pleasant environment, where you can enjoy nature with family and friends.
Among the most frequent species of flora are: black laurel, calf guácimo, guarumo, chilamate, palo de leche, guabillo, cachito (pig's egg), lemongrass and guache. Among the herbs are corocito, snake food, smooth chichicaste, abrelillo, platanillo and blue flower of narrancos.
Mushroom family
Among the species of mammals of importance for conservation are the three species of monkeys, (congo, white-faced and spider), the white-collared sahin and the lion, raccoon, rabbits, cusucos, jars guard, tigrillos, wildcats, squirrels foxes.
The conserved areas are important to house birds, here you will be able to see species such as the magpie, the guardabarranco, oropendola Aligree, the collared toucan, the iris-billed toucan, the quail, cancanes, sapoyoles, buzzards, castilla pigeons, tincos, carrots, magpies, chickens. of mount, woodpeckers, cenzontles, canaries, chichiltotes, booby birds, guises, green chocoyo and the chachalaca.
Among the amphibians, the warty toad and the red-eyed frog stand out, and among the reptiles are the common or choker coral, rattlesnake, mica snake, iguana and garrobo.
