The highest points are located at Cerro La Pita, Los Prados and Los Parrales.
With a climate defined as semi humid (tropical savanna), with average annual rainfall between 1,200 and 1,600 mm.
The most representative site of the municipality is the Río Escalante Wildlife Refuge Protected Area - Chacocente, for being one of the eight beaches in the world where massive arrivals of sea turtles occur and nesting for the almost extinct tora turtle.
The Encounters Rivers: So called because of the link made by the upper and lower rivers in that place when their waters join, it is visited by its inhabitants in the summer, perfect for taking a dip at any time of the year. These two rivers give rise to the name of the community through which they pass, Los Encuentros.
Thermal waters: It is a spring of volcanic origin so its bottom contains ashes, you can enjoy its healing waters that will help you relax. It is located in the Aguas Calientes and Escalante community.
Lomas de Viento Ecotourism Center: located from the entrance to the Pitilla 2 km to the south. It offers a wide variety of services such as:

Las Caras River: surrounded by nature, with a very peculiar characteristic around it, there are petroglyphs with shapes of faces, which give rise to its name. It is located in the El Sol community.
Unique species have been reported, such as sea turtles that nest on the coast of Chacocente; also pumas, the three species of primates of Nicaragua: the howler monkey, white-faced monkey and spider monkey, as well as young lions, rattlesnake, magpie, toledos, gray hawk, iguana and white-tailed deer.
Other important species are those that reside or transit through marine ecosystems such as humpback whales, blue shark, bull shark, eagle ray, bottlenose dolphin, also fish known as billfish (sailfish, swordfish and roosterfish). which are of special interest to sport fishing and generate a significant amount of income. Among the birds we find parrots, chocoyos and hummingbirds.
