Nature El Tuma La Dalia

Among the important natural sites in the municipality is the Peñas Blancas Massif, shared by the municipalities of El Tuma-La Dalia and Rancho Grande, in Matagalpa, and El Cua and San José de Bocay, in Jinotega.

Peñas Blancas Massif

The site is ideal to share with nature, short and simple walks where you can appreciate the landscape of the massif and the surrounding forest, the rural landscape and agricultural activities.

You can also go on long and adventurous hikes, where you will learn more about the exuberant flora and fauna as well as the many sources of water.

You can contact local or national tour operators that offer tours to the reserve or organize your own trip, preferably in a 4 × 4 vehicle. The massifs are located at kilometer 195 of the road to El Cua, heading towards the community of Peñas Blancas.

Center of Understanding with Nature

In the vicinity of the massif is the Center for Understanding with Nature and Agrotourism Estate Buenos Aires where the study of the forest, natural regeneration, plant associations and the recovery of degraded areas are promoted.

La shadow ecolodge It is a private wild reserve that combines comfort areas with the mountain environment, it has an area of 220 blocks, where 77% of the area is cultivated with natural shade coffee, the rest is dense forest characteristic of the humid tropics. You can stay at the mountain hotel and share with the locals.

To get to this place you must go through the center of the town of La Dalia, heading to the road to Waslala. Arriving at the signage of the Estrella farm, turn left until you reach this site.

La Sombra Ecolodge

Cascade of the Moon: with an impressive fall of 60 meters high. In the upper part there is a dam, from where you can see impressive views of nature, also in the vicinity is the Tuma River Canyon. The characteristics of the site have allowed the development of other attractions such as viewpoints, canopy, rappelling and water recreation in kayaks, pedal boats, trampolines and others.

Fifth Doña Rosa: This is a beautiful place located in the community of Piedra Luna 300 meters to the east, with great natural tourist attraction, since there you have access to the Tuma River, you can carry out recreational activities in the river, bird watching, stay in its rustic cabins and enjoy a nighttime bonfire.

Laguna de San Martin School Hotel: It is a recreational site with a water park and nearby there is an important forest for the conservation of species. It has services such as: accommodation, restaurant, swimming pools, water park, horseback riding, hiking, quadricycle circuit, jump, canopy, recreational table games areas.
