It is located 247 kilometers from Managua. It limits to the north with the Republic of Honduras, to the south with Somotillo and Villanueva, to the east with San José de Cusmapa and San Juan de Limay; Cinco Pinos and San Pedro del Norte to the west.

To get to San Francisco del Norte you must board a bus that leaves from the Israel Lewites Market terminal (Managua) bound for Chinandega, in that municipality look for the Cotran El Bisne and from there board a bus that leaves for San Francisco del Norte.
If you go by private vehicle from Managua, take the Carretera Nueva a León until you reach the municipality of Chinandega, at its roundabout take the road to the right towards El Guasaule, when you reach the municipality of Somotillo you must turn right and continue until you pass through Cinco Pine trees where you will find a junction that you must follow to the right until you reach this Chinandegan destination.
