Ciudad Antigua, with more than four centuries of history, was founded in 1543. It is considered the third colonial city established in Nicaragua, after Granada and León. It has a historical and patrimonial wealth, natural sites that you will love and friendly, hospitable, hard-working and cultured inhabitants.
The municipality of Ciudad Antigua is 250 kms. away from Managua, the capital of the country. It limits to the north with San Fernando, to the south with Telpaneca, to the east with El Jícaro and to the west with Mozonte.
The main economic activity is agriculture. It mainly produces corn and beans, also taro, tomato and squash.
As agroforestry, coffee, bananas, plantains, bananas, cocoa, mango and citrus are produced. Livestock is small-scale and mainly intended for self-consumption.

How to reach?
To get to this municipality you must board a collective transport unit in the El Mayoreo Market, in Managua, heading to the city of Ocotal, then take another transport unit bound for Ciudad Antigua.
If you travel by private vehicle you must take the North Pan-American Highway, heading towards the municipality of Sébaco, here take the detour for the department of Estelí following the route through the municipalities of Condega, until you reach Ocotal and Ciudad Antigua. This tour takes between four and five hours.
