Somoto celebrates its festivities in honor of St. James, on July 25, festivities with more than four centuries of celebration.

In cultural, social and recreational activities, the Departmental Fair stands out; the Somoteñas Donuts Festival; the Livestock Fair and Agricultural Exhibition; the parade of floats; walk for love, peace and life to the Tepec-Xomolth mountain and men's and women's volleyball championships with the participation of Somoto's team and invited teams.

The Hearts, in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Festivities in honor of the Holy Cross, on the third of May on the hill that bears his name.

Feast of San Antonio de la Piedras.

Religiosity, tradition and orality

The religiosity of the Somoteños is manifested in faith and devotion evidenced in the appearance of the Virgin of Fátima de Cacaulí and their belief in the healing miracles received. On the 08th of each month pilgrimages are made to her sanctuary to venerate her.
