The festivities in honor of our Lord of Esquipulas have been held since 1899 on Christ Black as it is popularly known, was found in the pilita, a natural spring where water flows, traditionally called the Pilita Nuestro Señor de Esquipulas, the patronal festival of the Lord of Esquipulas Black christ are January 14 and 15 of each yearand it is also celebrated on the third Friday of Lent and constitute the festivities of the municipality. Part of the commemoration is the pilgrimage, the procession that runs through the streets to “La Pilita”, the vigil and the serenade in the temple's atrium, where hundreds of devotees gather to pray and sing to the Lord Jesus represented in this dedication. The next day a solemn mass is celebrated.
