The festivities in honor of our Lord of Esquipulas have been held since 1899 on Christ Black as it is popularly known, was found in the pilita, a natural spring where water flows, traditionally called the Pilita Nuestro Señor de Esquipulas, the patronal festival of the Lord of Esquipulas o Black christ are January 14 and 15 of each year, and it is also celebrated on the third Friday of Lent and constitute the festivities of the municipality. Part of the commemoration is the pilgrimage, the procession that runs through the streets to “La Pilita”, the vigil and the serenade in the temple's atrium, where hundreds of devotees gather to pray and sing to the Lord Jesus represented in this dedication. The next day a solemn mass is celebrated.

Cleaning the Sanctuary: It is a popular tradition that takes place on the first Friday of Lent, promising people arrive who remove the miracles and take them on their knees to the presence of the “Negrito”, while others deposit new ones.
Santiago's demand: This pilgrimage takes place between June 29 and July 12 of each year, on the first day Santiago leaves Jinotepe passing through the communities of Santa Teresa, until reaching the Conquest on July 2 of each year all the faithful believers come to the top of the image at the entrance to the municipality, accompanied by fireworks and philharmonic music. On July 6, the image travels in the demand of the urban area and the promising people leave towards the mountain until arriving on July XNUMX in Veracruz de Acayo, where the devotees of Santiago return to see their relatives who are accompanying the saint in the higher demand.
