The municipality of San Fernando is located in the north center of the department of Nueva Segovia, it has an average elevation of 729 meters above sea level and elevations that range between 760 and 2,100 meters above sea level.

Part of the municipality of San Fernando is included in the Cordillera Dipilto Natural Reserve - Jalapa, which has many natural attractions, one of them is the presence of five micro-basins that form beautiful landscapes and where the water that supplies the population of the municipality is produced. The reserve has an extension of 31,315 hectares. The protected area includes part of the municipalities of Dipilto, Mozonte, San Fernando and Jalapa in the department of Nueva Segovia, and was declared a Natural Reserve through Decree 42-91 "Declaration of Various Hills, Mountain Massifs, Volcanoes and Lagoons of the Country".

Also, you can climb El Duende hill, located within their property, learn how to make organic fertilizer and taste the products that are grown in the area. In this cooperative you can also visit the tilapia farming piles and learn about this process. It is located in the Santa Rosa community, easily accessible by any means of transportation.

El hydrographic system of the municipality of San Fernando constitutes some important sites for the conservation of the pine forest, gallery forest and the conservation of the flora and fauna of the place.
