If you get to Tisma, you cannot return without first having savored the curd, the black box made of corn dough, ripe papaya, anise, milk, coconuts, tied with cane candy; and the white cajeta, made of parboiled corn, rice, milk, sugar and cinnamon, traditional sweets that are made for the La Cruz festivities and are called “Presentes de La Cruz”.

In Lent the characteristic dish is the turtle stew. Fried fish in tomato sauce is the representative gastronomy of the Tismeños.
