The term Waslala of indigenous origin means "Silver River" because in said municipality the economy remains booming.
Waslala is the wild north, its mountains were scenes of war conflicts, today peace and progress reign, here its happy and hospitable inhabitants work day by day for the development of their municipality. It is part of the buffer zone of the Bosawás Biosphere Reserve.
It is located 241 kilometers from Managua; It limits to the north and east with Siuna, to the south with Río Blanco and Rancho Grande, and to the west with the municipalities of Rancho Grande and El Cua.
Livestock and agriculture, with coffee and cocoa crops, are what contribute to the economy of the municipality.

How to reach?
You can get to Waslala from the terminal of Mercado El Mayoreo in Managua, board here express and ordinary buses that leave every hour to Matagalpa, arriving at Cotran Sur take a taxi to Cotran Norte (Guanuca) where you are looking for an express bus that goes to Waslala either at 05:30 am, 01:00 pm or at 04:00 in the afternoon.
You can also catch ordinary buses that leave every 60 minutes.
From the El Comején Junction, Rancho Grande, you can arrive, it is 30 kilometers on the Macadam road, about an hour to get there.
You can travel by private vehicle taking the North Pan-American Highway passing through El Tuma - La Dalia and when you reach the junction of the municipality of Rancho Grande, continue straight until you reach this destination.
