El Ceibo Museums
Moisés David Ghitis Rivera, creator and founder, began at the age of 12 (1976) to collect banknotes, coins and archaeological pieces. When his parents farmed the land, agricultural implements unearthed archaeological pieces, so he decided to collect and protect the cultural heritage of Ometepe Island by sharing his collections with the public. He transformed his house into what are now the Numismatic and Pre-Columbian Museums, inaugurated on March 31, 2007. This initiative was supported by friends who have also donated pieces found in different parts of the island.
