In this municipality the most popular legends are: The Bewitched Poza de la Muta, The Goblin's Cave and The Deer with the Mysterious Stone.

La Haunted Pool of the Muta Three legends are narrated in the same place: The toad, the goblin that appeared in this pool, and the fight between the Yalaguina bull and the Totogalpa bull. This pool has a surface area of ​​7 m² and its depth is 5 meters. A stream of very icy water comes out of the pool that connects with the stream that goes to the municipality of Palacagüina.

In relation to the Goblin Cave, located in the community of El Chagüite, its fantasy narrative consists in that a goblin lived at the bottom of this cave and for a long time it persecuted a maiden from this community. The deer of the mysterious stone It is a legend with enough credibility because the man who killed this deer told it directly. Doña Tana, an old peasant woman from the El Jocote community, prepared the bullets from the 22 rifle and told her that this was the counter to kill the deer.
