Donuts

Corn is the basis of a vast variety of Nicaraguan food. Here the meals are highlighted by periods.

At Easter, pisques tamales predominate, fish cakes in soups, syrups, donuts in honey, jocotes in honey, fritters and it is customary to bake curd donuts, since the traditional ones are based on cheese.

In May the stew of the flower of izote and piñuela is tasted.

In July and August everything derived from corn; sweet tamales, montucas, güirilas, atol, cooked corn and esquite.

In December the nacatamales, stuffed hens, pork loins and stuffed beef.

The traditional drinks of the municipality are cooked and raw pinol, tiste, pozol and chicha bruja.
