Patron-festivities-in-honor-to-lord-of-the-Miracles

Every January 20 this Segovian city celebrates its patron saint festivities in honor of the Lord of Miracles, the venerated image is the fifth Christ who came to Nicaragua. The image has been a sign of veneration, of miracle, of conversions, of cures, but above all of spiritual healings.

Lord of Miracles Sanctuary Church

In the center of the urban area, the church began construction in 1654 and was completed in 1678. It has a colonial design and a plaza that reflects characteristics of the colonial era. Inside the church there are images that date from centuries past and that were brought by the Spanish.

Monsignor Madrigal Religious Museum

It was opened to the public in 1950, in which you can see old vestments of Spanish bishops, utensils for ceremonial consecrations, clothing of the pirates who attacked the city, remains of the baptismal font, fossils, the first bell of the parish temple, collection of coins , the original pulpit of the church, maps of Nicaragua and historical documents from more than 300 years ago.

Ruins of La Merced church and convent

To the southwest of the center of the urban area of ​​Ciudad Antigua. The story goes that it was destroyed during the first invasion of the pirate Morgan, although the exact date of this event is not known. The walls were restored by the Nicaraguan Institute of Culture in 1998.
