The name of Nandaime, a word in the Chorotega language, means "Place of abundant streams", which indicates that they are fertile lands well used by the inhabitants for the development of agriculture.
Nandaime is located 67 kilometers from the city of Managua. It limits the north with Granada, Diriá and Diriomo; to the south with Belén, Potosí and Buenos Aires; to the east with Lake Cocibolca or Lake Nicaragua, and to the west with Santa Teresa and La Paz.
The fundamental economic activity of the municipality is agriculture, mainly the cultivation of rice, sugar cane, cocoa, watermelon and corn.

The municipality of Nandaime can be reached through collective buses that leave from Managua at the Roberto Huembes Market terminal, take the buses to the southern border or Rivas. The departure times are frequent and the ticket has an affordable cost.
To travel by private vehicle, following the Managua - Masaya highway, at the Las Flores roundabout you will turn right, passing the towns of Catarina, San Juan de Oriente and Diriomo until you reach the top of the road at the El Guanacaste junction, here you must turn turn right and continue until the next junction where you will turn left and in a short time you will be in Nandaime.
