Alejandro Martinez: popularly known as "Andico", he was one of the exponents of regional popular music, as a singer and composer, he left a great legacy that today is part of the musical heritage of Nicaragua.

The legend of King Moctezuma is also very popular. According to the story, the king is buried with his golden chair and all his treasure in the lagoon system.

The headless horseman, they say that for Easter on the coast of the wetland or lagoon, a headless man dressed all in black, with a black cape and mounted on a black horse walks. The headless horseman makes his journey on the last Friday of each month when there is a full moon.

The municipality has an organized folk dance group: El Tismayap / Tismayán.

In Tisma you can find handicrafts made of tule, royal palm and coconut palm brooms and hammocks that are distinguished from those of Masaya for their color and thickness.

At Mi Ranchito ceramic workshop, You will be able to appreciate the elaboration of pieces of clay in a traditional way, as well as see the elaboration of the hammocks in the Jalina Hammock Workshop.
