The municipality of Jalapa is located 300 kilometers north of the city of Managua, capital of the Republic, and 70 kilometers northeast of the city of Ocotal, the departmental capital. It limits to the north with the Republic of Honduras, to the south with the municipality of El Jícaro, to the east with the municipality of Murra and to the west with the municipality of San Fernando.
The economy of the municipality is based on agricultural activity and forestry. In agriculture the main crops are corn, tobacco, coffee and rice.

How to reach?
To visit this municipality from Managua you must go to the bus terminal of El Mayoreo Market and take an express bus with the Managua-Jalapa route, or take a bus that takes you to the municipality of Ocotal, in the Ocotal bus terminal, You take the bus that goes to Jalapa.
By private vehicle, take the Pan-American highway north to the city of Estelí. Upon reaching Estelí, follow the signs to Ocotal and turn at the Jalapa junction.
